JJ Hill's New Location

Welcoming Students Fall 2025!

The J.J. Hill Elementary program (staff and students) will be moving to the newly renovated Barack and Michelle Obama School location for the start of the 2025-2026 school year.

We understand that this transition may bring many questions, and we want to assure you that more details will be shared as soon as they become available. Check out our FAQ.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time, and we will keep everyone informed with updates to ensure a smooth and successful move. Your support is invaluable as we work through this exciting change together!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will the school hours be changing? 
A: Yes. The hours will be 9:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Q: Will I have to re-enroll my student? 
A: No. All currently enrolled students will be able to continue to the new location.

Q: Can I tour the new building? 
A: The new building is currently undergoing renovations. More information will be available in the spring. 

​

Q: Will the elementary curriculum be different? 
A: No. The change in name does not reflect a change in the curriculum or teaching philosophy. 

​

Q: Will students stay with their current teachers?
A: Yes, it is expected that all students will remain with their current Teacher.

Q: What resources will be shared between the elementary school and middle school? 
A: Library/Media Center, Cafeteria, outside spaces will be used by the respective programs. Consideration is being given to any times when Elementary and Middle School students would be sharing the spaces and it is anticipated to be minimal.

Renovation Project

The Barack and Michelle Obama School will receive significant remodeling throughout its building and grounds. Once complete, the site will serve two separate programs: a PreK-5 Montessori magnet program with a maximum capacity of 450 students, and a middle school (grades 6-8) with a maximum capacity of 450 students (the middle school’s schedule and curriculum will follow SPPS’s middle school model.
